Opt Out Form

Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Quarantine Requirements

Please note that anyone arriving to Kansas from areas designated on the KDHE Travel & Exposure Isolation/Quarantine document are required to observe a 14 day quarantine. Please see the link above for specific locations as the KDHE can update these at any time. If arriving from outside of Kansas, please plan your travel dates accordingly. Students who have applied for housing on the Barton County/Great Bend campus will be provided information about mandatory quarantine for housing residents.

Quarantine Locations

The Barton County Campus has identified two quarantine locations - one to house students who arrived early to address required KDHE quarantine for people entering Kansas from other locations and one to house any students who might be assigned to quarantine by the Health Department due to test results or exposure.

COVID-19 Information for Students in Residence Life

Residential students will undergo screening as part of the housing check-in and move-in process, and testing will be available on-site for those presenting with symptoms. Housing residents who have been vaccinated should bring a copy of their vaccination record (for Covid 19 and measles), as proof of vaccination will help the student avoid quarantine if it is determined the student has been exposed to these communicable diseases.

Individuals arriving from countries or locations indicated on the KDHE Travel Related Quarantine list will quarantine in their assigned rooms.  They are not to attend practices, meetings, classes, etc. until testing is completed on day 7 of the quarantine period. Beginning on Saturday, August 14, quarantined students will pick up prepared take-out meals from the cafeteria service door during their quarantine.

Students and parents should consider wearing a face mask in the Student Union while going through the check-in process as there will be a large amount of people in the indoor space, at times with considerable wait-time.

Students should also review the COVID-19 Housing Booklet for guidance on monitoring symptoms and reviewing quarantine requirements.

This booklet also contains information and methods to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from the following organizations:

  • Kansas Department of Health and Environment
  • Centers for Disease Control
  • World Health Organization

Health Screenings

Students and employees are encouraged to attend to their own personal health status by way of daily self-assessment for symptoms of illness. Those experiencing symptoms of illness should stay home, limit contact with others, and consider seeking assessement by a health care provider.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Currently, masks or other face coverings are recommended for unvaccinated individuals when social distancing cannot be maintained for students, employees, and visitors at the Barton County/Great Bend campus.

Classroom and Course Adjustments

Our first and foremost priority is your health and safety and that of everyone in this learning community; therefore, face to face courses have been adjusted to comply with social distancing requirements. What this means is that in order to accommodate space limitations, a reduced number of students will attend classes in person while remaining class members will attend via Zoom (Fuzion classes). There will also be some instances where all students will attend class via zoom (LiveOnline classes). This delivery arrangement does not alter the content of your classes, the instructor or the scheduled meeting time. If you have questions about whether or not your enrollment has shifted from in person attendance to zoom, please contact advisement@bartonccc.edu or (800) 748-7594 ext. 225.

Child Development Center

The Child Development Center will remain open providing needing child care services for faculty, staff, students, and community members. Child Development Center Director Graham is monitoring any directives that may come from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the State of Kansas in terms of their licensing. The Child Development Center has already been communicating with parents related to steps they are taking to maintain a healthy environment, which are in line with their typical cleaning, sanitizing, and hygiene practices.
